R.E. Chips Portales, Esq., is a Denver native and sole practitioner. He is a 1980 graduate of the University of Denver School of Law. He is a nationally published author and poet. He has performed with Opera Colorado in “Manon Lescuat” in the May 1987 5th season and “Carmen” in the May 1988 6th season. He is the former regional president of the Hispanic National Bar Association and recipient of the 1988 Hispanic National Bar Association Civil Rights Medal Award for “Commitment to the Preservation of Civil and Constitutional Rights for All Americans”. He is a former board member of the non-profit organization “The Legal Center for People with Disabilities and Older People”. He has presented the “Rights of the Elderly Incapacitated or Disabled Person” at the 2nd Annual Elder Law Retreat, in August 2010 and has been a member of Colorado Bar Association's Ethics Committee for 22 years and in July of 2005 he was recognized by the American Association for Justice National College of Advocacy as "Advocate."
